Materials

At Certus, material choice is a fundamental part of how a card looks, feels and performs in the real world. From everyday PVC to more sustainable alternatives, we work with proven materials that meet the demands of high-volume production, personalisation and fulfilment.

Our materials

Choosing the right material ensures your cards not only look right on day one, but continue to perform. At Certus we work with you to understand your programme requirements and recommend the right materials to make your card functional.

Sustainability is a key focus for many organisations, and we know cards should be no different. At Certus, we offer a range of more sustainable materials that deliver the quality and durability you expect, while reducing environmental impact.

Paperboard

Paperboard is a fully recyclable material with a strong visual impact. Ideal for gift cards and promotional applications where sustainability, print quality and presentation are key.

Eco-PVC

Eco-PVC is a lower-impact alternative to traditional PVC. Designed to reduce reliance on virgin plastic while retaining the strength and consistency required for long-life cards.

Recycled PVC

Recycled PVC has the same durability and print quality as standard PVC, but is made from reclaimed material. A popular choice for brands looking to reduce environmental impact without changing how their cards perform.

Some card programmes place more specific demands on materials, whether that’s extended lifespan, environmental exposure or compatibility with particular systems.

For these applications, we offer a wider range of specialist materials, each selected for its performance in real-world conditions.

PET-G

PET-G is a robust plastic material suited to more demanding environments. It offers strong resistance to heat, chemicals and physical stress, making it a good choice where cards are exposed to harsher conditions or higher levels of wear. PET-G is often specified for applications that require added resilience while maintaining good print quality and structural stability.

Teslin

Teslin is a synthetic material known for its strength, stability and resistance to tearing and moisture. Unlike traditional plastics, it performs well in environments where cards may be bent, exposed to water or subject to frequent handling. Teslin is commonly used for ID cards and key fobs where longevity, clarity and reliability are essential.
